Q. Is a bigger air conditioner better suited for my home?
A. No, bigger is definitely not better in air conditioning. An air conditioner’s function is to cool the air by drying it. Over sizing a unit makes it more difficult to remove moisture from the air in your home, creating a “clammy cool” air.
Q. What is the condensation drain for?
A. The cool temperature of the evaporator coil causes water to condense. In most cases a plastic pipe is used to drain the water outside of the home.
Q. What does it mean when my indoor coil freezes up?
A. The #1 cause of a frozen indoor coil is the restriction of air flow. The regular checking and changing of your air filter along with annual maintenance check-ups should alleviate this problem.
Q. Why should I have yearly maintenance on my air conditioning system?
A. A yearly tune up is necessary to keep your air conditioning system running at peak efficiency. This will lead to lower energy costs over the life of your system as well as providing for timely replacement of worn parts, which can lead to costly repair bills in the future.
Q. How much does a repair cost?
A. There are lots of variables to take into consideration when doing a repair, once the technician arrives and diagnoses the problem, he will write up the cost of the repairs and go over the pricing with you. If you approve the price, we will do the repairs at that time if he has the proper parts available on the truck. Otherwise, we will have to locate the parts and reschedule a time to come back.
Q. I want a new piece of equipment, but I don’t know what the right system is for me?
A. Whether you would like a new condenser, heater, or coil, Weather Machines will do a whole house heat gain and loss calculation to determine the right equipment for your home (No guess work).
Q. How often should I replace my filters?
A. We recommend you replace your disposable filter at least once a month for optimal filtration and efficiency. If your filters are washable they should also be cleaned on a monthly basis.
Q. What are the advantages of a programmable thermostat?
A. Different features are available on different programmable thermostats. Since these thermostats are electric, they are generally much more accurate than ones that contain mercury. Many contain programmable features, allowing you to set the temperature automatically at different times of the day. You’ll never have to worry about forgetting to change it!
Q. Can I get same day service?
A. We value each and every customer, and we will do our BEST to get you same day service.
Q. Will the repair be done the same day as the technician arrives at my home?
A. Every service call is different. While our trucks are fully stocked with common replacement parts, if your repair requires a part we do not have in stock, we will need to order it for you and re-schedule another visit. However, if we have the part, your repair will be completed the same day.
Q. Who will be arriving at my house? I want someone with lots of experience.
A. All technicians at Weather Machines are fully licensed. Our employees are highly trained in HVAC and are EPA certified. We require all our employees to take classes throughout the year, ensuring they get the most recent knowledge and skills in the industry.
